Little India lies to east of the Singapore River- across from chinatown, located west of the river- and the north of Kampong Glam. Both areas are part of the urband planning area of Rochor. Little India is more commonly known as Tekka in the local Tamil community.

People there in the hotel where we stay for one night was very nice.. I made friends with two indian brothers while i am smoking to the hotel smoking area and we talk very nice about singapore.. very nice persons..

Merlion, Singapore

The merlion is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, used as a mascot and national personificationn of singapore. Its name combines ''mer'' meaning the sea and ''lion''. The fish body represent Singapore's origin as a fishing village when it was  called Temasek, which means ''sea town'' in javanese. The lion head represents Singapore's original name -Singapura- meaning ''lion city'' or ''kota singa''.
